Muse User Agreement
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Muse ("the App") is an open-source AI coding tool for Android maintained by jieapi (an individual developer, "the Developer"). This agreement explains your rights, obligations, and important risks when using the App. Please read it together with the Privacy Policy.
1. Reading and Consent
Before using the App, read this User Agreement and the Privacy Policy and decide whether to agree. Choosing "Agree and continue" saves your consent status; declining exits the App.
You can view both documents at any time through the "User Agreement" and "Privacy Policy" entries under Settings → About.
This agreement applies to use of the App. It does not replace third-party terms or restrict rights you have under applicable law or GPL-3.0.
2. Features and AI-Generated Content
The App provides AI chat and coding assistance, file editing, a terminal and local Linux container, Git, remote SSH, a browser, MCP, skills, subagents, and backups. Available capabilities depend on your device, configuration, permissions, and connected services.
AI-generated code, commands, explanations, images, and other content may contain errors, omissions, security vulnerabilities, infringement risks, or material unsuitable for your circumstances. AI responses are not guarantees of accuracy, security, legality, or fitness for purpose, and should not replace necessary professional judgment. Review content before adopting, executing, publishing, or deploying it, and test, verify sources, and obtain authorization as needed.
3. Commands, Files, and Server Operations
Within your selected operating mode and permissions, AI and tools may read, modify, overwrite, or delete files; execute commands; install dependencies; access networks; operate Git repositories; and connect to or modify remote servers. Some operations may run in sequence without a separate confirmation for every step.
Incorrect instructions, model errors, untrusted project content, or third-party tools may cause data loss, credential exposure, service interruptions, damaged configurations, or unexpected charges. Permission controls, checkpoints, and undo features cannot guarantee prevention or recovery of every loss. A local container does not provide absolute isolation from mounted directories, network resources, or remote servers.
Ensure that you are authorized to operate on the target devices, directories, repositories, and servers, and limit tool permissions as appropriate. Take particular care with deletion, overwriting, pushing, deployment, system commands, and production environments. Do not place secrets you do not want sent to third parties in files, rules, or command output that AI can read.
4. Lawful Use and Others' Rights
Comply with applicable laws, respect others' privacy, intellectual property, and system security, and follow legally valid service agreements. Do not use the App for unauthorized intrusion, data theft or disclosure, malware distribution, fraud, or other unlawful or infringing activities.
Conduct reverse engineering, security research, interoperability analysis, vulnerability testing, and similar activities within the limits of applicable law, obtain authorization where legally required, and respect others' lawful rights. Verify that you have the right to use, process, or provide uploaded code, files, and other materials to the relevant services, and comply with applicable licenses when distributing your work.
5. Third-Party Services and Fees
AI models, search, websites, MCP services, software repositories, Git hosting, remote servers, and storage such as WebDAV or S3 may be provided by third parties. Their availability, content, data practices, billing, and refund rules depend on those services and your agreements with them. A vendor preset or integration does not constitute a guarantee or endorsement by the Developer.
You choose and configure services, protect accounts and API keys, and check pricing, quotas, permissions, and data policies. AI conversations, tool calls, automatic retries, context compression, title generation, image generation, subagents, servers, storage, and network traffic may incur charges. Usage or costs shown in the App may be estimates; actual billing is governed by the relevant service's records and agreements. An open-source license does not make third-party services free.
6. Data, Privacy, and Backups
See the Privacy Policy for data storage, network transfers, logs, permissions, and deletion. AI and remote features may send relevant content to selected services; review their policies before use.
Back up important code, settings, and data regularly, and verify that backups can be restored. Checkpoints, Git history, and synchronization do not replace independent backups. Uninstalling, clearing app data, mistakes, device failures, or remote service problems may make data unrecoverable. Backup encryption is optional; use a strong password for sensitive backups and keep it safe. The Developer cannot recover lost passwords or data that has not been saved on your behalf.
7. Open-Source License and Reserved Rights
The App is open source under GPL-3.0, with source code in the GitHub repository. This agreement does not restrict your rights under that license to run, study, copy, modify, or redistribute the software. Exercising those rights remains subject to the license's conditions. Third-party components retain their respective licenses.
If this agreement conflicts with GPL-3.0 regarding rights granted by that license, GPL-3.0 prevails. The startup consent process does not impose additional restrictions on those open-source rights.
8. Warranties and Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available." The Developer and contributors do not promise that it will always be error-free, uninterrupted, suitable for a particular purpose, or able to prevent all security incidents or data loss. Assess the risks of AI output, third-party services, and the operations you choose to execute in light of your circumstances.
Any disclaimer of warranties or limitation of liability applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law. This agreement does not exclude or limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or personal injury where such exclusions are prohibited. It does not remove your statutory rights. Responsibility for a specific incident must be determined under applicable law, actual fault, causation, and the relevant facts, rather than being assigned entirely to the user by this agreement.
9. Updates to This Agreement
The Developer may update this agreement to reflect feature changes or legal requirements and will show the last updated date on this page. Material changes to important rights or obligations will be explained through reasonable means, such as an in-app notice or project announcement, with renewed consent where required by law. Publishing revised text alone will not replace legally required notice or consent. If you disagree with an update, you may stop using the relevant features or the App; this does not affect rights already granted under GPL-3.0.
